How to Create a Static Copy of a Dynamic Web Site

To create a static copy of a dynamic Web site, you should first download it. See the topic How to Download a Web Site for more information.

Make sure the program is in Online mode and the Internet connection is available. Double click the task with your Web site (this will probably be the only task in your project). Offline Commander will load the home page into the built-in browser. Using the built-in browser, visit every page on your Web site and make sure every page is displayed correctly. This is a necessary step if you want to avoid problems afterwards. After you have finished, you may disconnect from the Internet and switch the program to Offline mode.

From now on you will be able to browse the Web site offline in the Offline Commander. If you want to create a browsable copy of the site on disk you should export the project file. To export the project, click on the Export button on the main toolbar and select the folder on disk to which you want the site to be exported.

The exported site will use relative links so you will be able to move it to other folders or to serve it from a Web server.

If you have problems exporting a Web site read the Common Problems and Resolutions section of the topic 'How to Download a Web Site'.
