How to Search in the Downloaded Files

Press the Search button on the Project Toolbar to launch the Search Dialog Box.

You can search for files by URL, title (for webpages), file type, file state (queued, retrieved, error), or search for keywords in the text of webpages. To use the full-text search capability, you first have to create the full-text index. The first time you run a full-text search, the program asks you if you want to create the full-text index. This operation can take a while depending on how large is your project database. For small projects the index is created in a flash. If you have already created the index before, the program has to update the index if the contents of the database has changed since the last time the index was created or updated. Update of the index takes the time proportional to the number of new text files added to the project since the last time the index was updated.

You can use wildcard characters in URL, Title, and Text boxes. When searching in titles and text of webpages, you can also join the search terms with boolean operators AND, OR, NOT (not case sensitive). If operator is not specified, AND is assumed. You can use parentheses to nest expressions within a query. The expressions in parentheses are evaluated before the rest of the query. You should enclose words in quotation marks if you want to search for phrases.

Search results are listed in the Search Results Window. You can change parameters of your search and rerun the search by pressing the Search button on the Search Results Toolbar. The new results will be placed in the same window. If you run a new search by clicking the Search button on the Project Toolbar, the results of the search will be placed in a new window.
